Spring is here

And so is the mud. I don’t have a dog, but with 3 children ranging in age from 4-9, I’ve given up the fight. I have clumps and streaks of brown from the front door to the back and in other places in between.

Don’t get me wrong, I love spring–the rebirth of the plants and trees, knowing summer is coming–but the mess and the laundry I could do without. And I hate mopping. It’s a pointless activity I find seeing as how the floor will only get dirty again about 60 seconds later.

But now that the sun is shining with more and more heated intent, I am getting excited about my garden. I suck as a gardener, I kill more plants that cultivate, yet that doesn’t stop me each year from setting up my seedlings on the kitchen table–the kids eat elsewhere for 2 months lol. I love watching them sprout through the dirt overnight and of the 40 seedlings I start, knowing at least a half dozen will survive my abysmal green thumb and children. I do admit to having much better luck with perennials. I’ve got a massive raspberry bush that I started from a half dead plant on sale at Home Depot. It likes the pool water that drenches it all summer long. My front rock garden with it’s Aspen poppies and bulbs is lovely too, all plants that don’t require me to touch them as you’ll note.

LOL

Does anyone else have a garden out there? What’s your favourite part or plant?

Yay spring is here!

Writing: Porn Vs Erotica

I want to try my hand at something a little different–Erotica. I’ve got a basic storyline for a short and need to hit 20-25k words. My dilemma is not crossing that line from erotica into porn. I researched it via google and got mixed results. One writer defined the difference as erotica displays the emotions behind it all rather than just being about sex. Another claimed it had to do with the language used–hardcore terminology and description vs words that leave it up to the imagination.

Hunh?

Seriously, if have to fill in the blanks then it’s purple prose or sensuous–not erotica, at least in my mind. As for emotions, not all women need or want the emotional entanglement that comes with a relationship. Sometimes sex is just sex–a carnal bodily need that feels good.

So back to my WIP–it’s got a little emotion, a basic storyline and in 6k of writing is entering it’s second hot scene. Did I forget to mention I’m introducing elements of bondage? I am going to write an erotic piece that’s express purpose is to titillate, shock and ultimately leave you feeling horny instead of emotionally satisfied. Or at least I hope it does, it all depends on if I get it right.

Now back to writing it and then submitting it. Only time and the editors will tell if this piece ends up called erotica or porn.

In the meantime, let me know your thoughts on the matter.

Goodreads & more

Hey everybody,
If you’re reading this then you know that I am officially a published author. Yay.

The Hunter came out on the 19th and on my publishers website is ranked #1 in Fantasy and #5 in Paranormal. Not bad for 2 days sales.

What I don’t have yet is a review. Hint-hint. So if you’ve read the sucker and liked it (or hated it) let me know. You can also goto GoodReads.com and review it there.

Also my interview with Melody Aaron is coming out tomorrow so be sure to check it out. I am doing a live ‘chat’ on Saturday the 27th so be sure to send me some questions.

Alien Mate as you know has found a home with Amira Press–release date and cover coming real soon. Lucifer’s Daughter is sitting in a slush pile awaiting it’s turn, so fingers crossed on that one. Chance’s Game is still under review and I was told a few weeks ago that a decision would be coming soon. That one is a sequel to my June release Take A Chance whose cover I can’t wait to see.

As for WIP’s, I’m working on one with an amnesiac gal who draws the attention of both a werewolf and vampire. I’m only at the 20k mark so it’s too soon for me to divulge more on this baby which is looking like it will be a full length novel and serial. I am also mentally preparing an erotic bdsm novella. Once I get rid of this stupid head cold I’m going to be typing it out and then figuring out who this piece would work well with.

So all in all last week was a busy one. If you’re reading this drop me a comment. I’d love to hear from you even if it’s just to say hi lol.
Talk to you later
Eve

Hyperventilating

Only a little. The Hunter comes out on Friday and it will be wonder if I have any nails left at all when it does.

Even better the kids are home for March break. Yay–not! My nine and 6 year old just can’t stop fighting and then it’s the race to see who can tattle quicker. My solution–both in a chair. Seriously. They hate it. I make them stare at the wall and tell them no talking, but usually within a few minutes I hear hushed whispers as they negotiate and apologize to each other, then as a team they apologize to me. Being magnanimous, I let them off with an admonishment to resolve their differences verbally in a normal tone of voice. And off they run to play til their next fight–10 minutes later. Sigh.

LOL. Children are the same everywhere and anytime I think. I remember fighting with my brother and sister growing up. Now of course we’re more mature–most of the time. I know my mother still remembers the good old days when we bickered non stop.

The Hunter actually features twin three year olds and the ways they drive their mother nuts. I hemmed and hawed about having children in a book about romance that had danger elements, but they ended up being an integral part of the story. I do hope my readers will be able to love them as much as I did. I warn you there are a few parts with the kids that will make you cry, but then there are places where you’ll be laughing–I hope.

Now I have a question for you, the romance reader. Should children be a part of romance stories? Or barely seen background characters? I find a lot of stories I read have the children at the very end–the traditional happy ever after ‘look I’m pregnant’–but in today’s world second chances at love are much more common as are the children that resulted from the first round of love. So what do you think?

And don’t forget to stand in line to buy The Hunter this Friday, March 19th.
Please!

New Contract

Amira Press has offered me a contract for Alien Mate– can you say AWESOME!
LOL
As you can tell I am very excited. Here’s the blurb

What would you do if a naked alien materialized in your living room and told you he was your leader?

Plump Diana is ironing her underwear when the hottest blue babe in all of the galaxy appears in her living room. Did she forget to mention he was naked too? Abducted, decontaminated and dressed like a harem girl, she’s been chosen to become the hunky alien’s mate.

Kor asked his ancestors to find him a biddable, docile mate, instead they found him Diana–a curvy, argumentative earthling who sets his pulse pounding and his loins on fire. He might be an alien who doesn’t understand the meaning of love, but he sure knows what he feels is more than lust.

A sci-fi romance novella (35k) with alien probes of a pleasurable kind. Coming soon from Amira Press.

This tale has lots of lusty thoughts and naughty acts. Stay tuned for an excerpt.
