And so is the mud. I don’t have a dog, but with 3 children ranging in age from 4-9, I’ve given up the fight. I have clumps and streaks of brown from the front door to the back and in other places in between.
Don’t get me wrong, I love spring–the rebirth of the plants and trees, knowing summer is coming–but the mess and the laundry I could do without. And I hate mopping. It’s a pointless activity I find seeing as how the floor will only get dirty again about 60 seconds later.
But now that the sun is shining with more and more heated intent, I am getting excited about my garden. I suck as a gardener, I kill more plants that cultivate, yet that doesn’t stop me each year from setting up my seedlings on the kitchen table–the kids eat elsewhere for 2 months lol. I love watching them sprout through the dirt overnight and of the 40 seedlings I start, knowing at least a half dozen will survive my abysmal green thumb and children. I do admit to having much better luck with perennials. I’ve got a massive raspberry bush that I started from a half dead plant on sale at Home Depot. It likes the pool water that drenches it all summer long. My front rock garden with it’s Aspen poppies and bulbs is lovely too, all plants that don’t require me to touch them as you’ll note.
LOL
Does anyone else have a garden out there? What’s your favourite part or plant?
Yay spring is here!
