Evie Balos is here to talk about her new release!

Welcome Evie, and thanks for letting us torture—um make that question you. Why don’t you tell us three things you absolutely hate.

A: Hi Eve, and thanks for this fun interview! Okay, I’d say rude people, spending way too much time looking for a parking spot in the city, and the fact that they don’t make waist high jeans anymore.

LOL high waist jeans. I miss those too! I love your sensual cover for The Unnecessary Bodyguard. Tell us about this paranormal tale.

A: Sable designed the cover—I love it too. The element that characterizes this story most is the dhampir hero. Dhampirs originated in Balkan folklore and are the offspring of a vampire and a human—the ultimate vampire hunters. The hero, Jovan Markovic, is a modern day hunter who belongs to an organization that keeps tabs on hostile vampire clans and destroys them if necessary. Like all dhampirs, he suffers from occasional dark moods and is a slightly tortured soul—my favorite kind of hero! He also owns a security company.

When it comes to women, he sticks to his own kind mostly because humans usually can’t handle the complexity of a dhampir’s lifestyle. But that unexpectedly changes when the heroine, Nina Bradley, comes into the picture as an unwilling client whose friend is convinced she’ll be attacked by a vampire. Nina’s stuck with a ruggedly sexy bodyguard who can only spell trouble, and Jovan is faced with an attraction for his client he can’t control.

Wow that sounds totally wicked. Now, are you ready for the question I love most? I want to know about the scene in this story that made you blush and squirm as you wrote it, but that just had to be included.

A: Ah, a few scenes made me blush, but there’s a scene that had me reaching for the nearest fan-like object. I can’t go into too much detail because of its explicit nature, but in this love scene, the hero’s inner beast comes out—sharp incisors included.

Mmm, sounds naughty. Your site mentions you’re working on a sequel. Can you reveal any details yet?

A: Sure. It’s the second book in the Dhampir Desire series, following The Unnecessary Bodyguard. It can stand alone although it’s best to read both books in sequence. I’m working on the outline so I haven’t started writing it yet. It revolves around Jovan’s brother, Milan (yes, another gorgeous dhampir) who’s also a member of the organization that controls vampire activity. A little different than his brother, Milan’s carefree and quite the bachelor. He’s not ready to settle so he keeps his relationships short. He likes his women feisty and he’s got a serious thing for human females. But, he’s definitely not prepared for the feisty heroine I’m tossing his way!

Feisty ladies are always fun, can’t wait. Word is you’ve got a contest going on. Want to tell us about it?

A: The contest I’m participating in is a web hunt organized by Night Owl Reviews. Dozens of authors are involved and there are over a hundred prizes to be won. Each author has a hidden graphic on their website or blog. Contestants have to find as many graphics as possible. The contest begins on October 1st. Details can be found by Clicking Here.

Sounds like lots of fun. Now for the dream part of the interview. You’re rich and famous. Do you splurge and hire a gorgeous pool boy, yard boy or house boy?

A: If I’m rich, why not all three? (grinning wickedly) They all have advantages, but if I had to choose, I’d say the pool boy so I can watch him work topless by the pool, the sun beating down on those rippling muscles.

:) Okay what’s your secret treat? You know, the one you don’t share even with your family.

A: My family pretty much knows my indulgences and vices. But there’s one I keep to myself: a cigarette or a good cigar about twice a year on a perfect summer evening.

I ask everyone this, because I like to know. What turns you on?
A)Husband taking off his shirt
B)Husband doing the housework.
C)Husband taking off with the kids for the day
D) Curling up with a hot book ;P

A: Can we substitute husband with boyfriend? I’m single, lol. I’d go with A if he’s fit. If not, definitely D!

LOL. And finally, if you had a super fan standing in front of you right now, clutching their e-reader loaded with your book, eyes shining bright, what would you say to them?

A: That’s easy! Find a nice, quiet spot and indulge. And when you’re done, tell me if you wished dhampir men existed. ;-)

Psyche’s Gate author Danielle Smith is here

Welcome Danielle, and thank you for allowing me to pick your brain lol. Tell us five neat things about that people might not know.

Thank you so much for having me, Eve!  A few things folks might not know:

1.) I am an apprentice ink slinger (aka a tattoo artist), working at Tempest Tattoo in San Diego, CA.
2.) I was an identical twin.
3.) I grew up in a vintage Southern California cottage that is still occasionally visited by its original owner (who has been dead for many years).
4.) Per my mother, when I was 18 months old, I once held my hand out and said, “Mom, just relax!” when I was about to get it. She laughed so hard she forgot to stay angry.
5.) When I was three, I renamed my belly button my “cha-doux”. Yeah, I was a bizarre kid.

A haunted cottage? You’re braver than me lol. Your work has a fabulous dark mix of angels and demons. Tell us about your books.

My debut novel, Psyche’s Gate, is a dark romantic fantasy concerning two unique characters. Alexius, the hero of the tale, is a banished warrior angel who has been sent by Heaven to stop Psyche, a powerfully talented human artist, from being used by a demon to create something that can bring forth an Evil that could swallow the world. He has been told that, if he succeeds, he will earn back his wings and his place in the Holy Army. However, when he begins to watch his intended victim from afar, he finds himself falling in love for the first time, captivated by her intelligence, charm, and creative abilities. When Psyche is eventually kidnapped by her demonic patron, Alexius is forced to choose between his powerful love for her and his duty to defend Creation itself. The story is dark and complex, with plenty of action and a few tender love scenes thrown in for good measure.

My second novel, Black Dog and Rebel Rose, was released in August by Solstice Publishing. BD&RR is an erotic horror story in which I pulled out all the stops and threw in all of the naughty stuff that I love, both characterwise and in the setting of the story. BD&RR first introduces the reader to Skriker, the son of a True Native of Hell and a mortal lady of the night. He is a tattooed Harley riding half-demon hunter who specializes in the destruction of all the evils that dwell in the dark, including his own kind. When not hunting, he is a wanton seducer and lover of the female sex; a bad boy in the truest sense of the term! Word of a vampire-infested ghost town draws him in with the appeal of blowing vamp parts all over the place like a kid in a carnival game. In the middle of the hunt he runs (literally) into Rose, a bombshell of a woman with a tragic past. Rose, who just happens to be the now-grown Nephil (half-angel, half-human) daughter of Alexius and Psyche, has become a fierce huntress with a chip on her shoulder. When they decide to run together on the hunt, Skriker finds himself falling madly in love with his new companion, and Rose is forced to deal with unwelcome emotions that she swore she would never acknowledge. Their opposing ancestries lead to an interesting dilemma for both characters. This story is horror-flick gory and truly written with the erotica fan in mind—the sex is graphic and sizzling hot. A very fun angels-and-demons read! This is also my first book to be in print as well as ebook format, which I am crazy excited about.

I love dark romances, and yours sound delicious. Now, are you ready for the question I love most? What is the embarrassing scene you ever wrote, the one that made you blush and squirm, but that just had to be included. Don’t be shy.

Hahaha! That’s a great question. This may sound lame, but I wrote my first blowjob scene in Black Dog and Rebel Rose. It kinda made me feel funny to try and find an “elegant” way to write about a woman going down on her knees to slob a big ol’ knob.

Knob — ROFL. Give me a minute to wipe the tears of mirth. I read on your site that you’re a tattoo artist. I’ve got know, what’s the weirdest tattoo you ever had to ink?

So far it’s been a killer baby fetus chewing on its own umbilical cord and wielding a steak knife. NO JOKE. But I’m an apprentice (still learning) so I’m sure eventually this one will just be the tip o’ the iceberg! LOL!

Okay that is so gross. <shudders> Let’s move on. You must be hard at work on something new, tell us about it.

I’m currently working on two new books. The top priority is the second novel in the Psyche’s Gate series. Titled Nephil’s Curse, this story chronicles Alexius and Psyche’s daughter Rose and her journey into adulthood. Skriker and Alexius are major characters, and I introduce my first werewolf characters here as well. My second project, In The Neon, is another erotica offering that tells the story of Skriker’s parents and how they met. I am also working on a comic book version of Black Dog and Rebel Rose, which I love to no end.

Now for the dream part of the interview. You’re rich and famous. How many rooms does your mansion have?

LMFAO! As many as the state of California will allow you to have…and a housekeeping staff to go along with ‘em! The North-facing art studio, the oversized garage for the muscle cars and motorcycles, the dungeon…oops, did I just say that!?…*blush*

Everyone should have a dungeon :) Okay now tell us about your guilty treat, the one you hide but can’t help indulging in.

Not so guilty! I love anything pickled. I can eat an entire jar of olives in one sitting.

Mmmm, olives. I ask everyone this, because I like to know. What turns you on?
A)Husband taking off his shirt
B)Husband doing the housework.
C)Husband taking off with the kids for the day
D) Curling up with a hot book ;P

That’s an easy one: A. My husband is a tattooed beefcake so seeing all those delicious inked muscles just makes me crazy.

My hubby’s got a few and they can definitely be sexy. And finally, if you had a super fan standing in front of your right now, clutching their e-reader loaded with your book, eyes shining bright, what would you say to them?

May I sign your boob?

ROFL. I love that answer. Want to see more of Danielle Smith, then hustle over to her site @ DanielleDSmith.com

Survivor is back followed by BB12 Finale

First let’s talk about Big Brother 12. I admit this is the first season I couldn’t care less. Nobody in the finale 3, bro-gade or not, deserves to win. My only hope at this point is that the giant pussy, oops I mean Enzo who meowed alot and did squat doesn’t win. At least Hayden and Lane competed, well once Brendon was gone anyways. I am not even planning to stay up to watch BB12 tonight like I have in previous seasons. I hope next year gets a better cast.

Now on to Survivor which I LOVE but has already annoyed me this season. Young vs Old- seriously?! I don’t like it, at all. I guess this is their way of making sure all the young folk don’t vote off all the old ones. Gee could there be a reason for that like they usually end up looking like shuffling zombies after living in the wild for a few days? One only hopes that Survivor doesn’t change it’s challenge model of hard physical comps in order to ensure the usually stronger younguns’ don’t wipe the beach with the wheezing older folk. Now don’t get me wrong. I think older folk are just as capable, to a certain extent. From the commericals I’ve seen though, they’ve dug deep to find character versus ability to survive. I’m sorry, but if you’re going to use older folk couldn’t they at least found some who were physically fit?

I wish Survivor would come up with a really neat twist. I’ve had an idea for years that the tribes need to be switched up constantly. After every tribal challenge, everybody draws buffs. This makes alliances harder to form as you can never be sure who you’ll end up with. It would also help the merge clean up. I hate it when one tribe dominates and then votes players of the other tribe off at the merge. I want to see a little more individual maneouvering.

So what do you think?

Sensual Romance Writer Allison Knight

Welcome Allison, and thank you for popping in for a chat. Tell us five neat facts about you.

Five neat things? Okay, first, I was born Christmas night. My mother said all she wanted
for Christmas was the baby and sure enough I came through. All she got was me.

A second neat thing – At seventy years old, I decided 260 pounds was killing me, so I lost
a hundred pounds. I’ve gained back a bit but I can tell you now, I’ll never see 260 again.
I have too much to live for.

Third – Twice, my husband’s birthday present to me was as trip to Hawaii. On one trip, we went to Mass in Honolulu on Christmas day and the celebrant asked if
anyone shared a birthday with Baby Jesus. I was the only person in the church who stood and only because my husband pushed me up. It was fun having all those people wishing me a happy birthday.
The second trip to Hawaii was to the big Island. We walk on a volcano on Christmas day.

Maybe not ‘neat’, but we went west and on the trip we stopped overnight at the
Grand Canyon. The next day, we discovered an escaped convict, a suspected murderer
had visited the National Park, and escaped the police by running through the hotel
we were staying in.

Last by not least, we love to travel and I have lived in or visit all but three of our states.
And no, Alaska, or Hawaii are not included. I have yet to see SD, ND or Oregon.
I’ve been to or lived in all the rest.

You’ve got quite a few books to your credit. Tell us about your most recent one.

Battlesong is the story of the youngest brother in Heartsong. In it I have two very independent people who have to learn to live together. In the process they fall in love.
And yes, at first it’s a real ‘battle’.

Here’s the question I love most. What is the embarrassing scene you ever wrote, the one that made you blush and squirm, but that just had to be included.

I think the first love scene I wrote was the only one that made me blush and squirm.
After that first one, I didn’t have a problem.

Of all the stories you wrote, which is your favorite and why?

There are really two favorites. Heartsong. and probably because my husband likes it best. And yes, he does read them all. Also the first book I wrote. In fact, my husband would like for me to rewrite it, but I can’t do it. I loved that story, almost as much as I love Heartsong. Of course, I like all the stories I write. If I didn’t like them I would have written them. I do have one I almost finished and decided I didn’t like, That one is, to this day, still unfinished.

What’s next on the agenda for you?

I have a short novella coming out in February from Champagne Books. And, yes, it’s a valentine story. This one is a historical and involves a misdirected Valentine.
I’m also trying to finish a historical set in England at the time of the London fire. Then there’s Windsong which is the story of the second brother of my heroine from Heartsong. I just can’t let those characters go.

Now for the dream part of the interview. You’re rich and famous. You walk into the most expensive store you know and buy what on a whim?

I’d be in the tech department and buying the newest computer they had. Probably all new furniture for my office as well.

Of all the foods you cook, which is the one that as you’re making it makes you drool and roll your eyes in pleasure?

I love to cook, but I think my baked ham is the one I like the best. I pack it with cloves, brown sugar, pineapple rings, the juice from the pineapple and lots of wine. Of course, while it cooks, I baste it with more wine and I nip at the wine as well. Love that Ham!

I ask everyone this, because I like to know. What turns you on?
A)Husband taking off his shirt
B)Husband doing the housework.
C)Husband taking off with the kids for the day
D) Curling up with a hot book ;P

Even after fifty years of marriage, my husband stills turns me on. Okay, so without his shirt, things have changed a bit, and the kids have all gone, but he helps around the house, and that definitely creates warmth and not a little affection.

And finally, if you had a super fan standing in front of your right now, clutching their e-reader loaded with your book, eyes shining bright, what would you say to them?

Thank you for reading my book and I sure hoped you enjoyed it. Will you let me know? You can e-mail me. Then I would give them a bookmark, or one of my cards with my
e-mail address on it. .
