Welcome Allison, and thank you for popping in for a chat. Tell us five neat facts about you.
Five neat things? Okay, first, I was born Christmas night. My mother said all she wanted
for Christmas was the baby and sure enough I came through. All she got was me.
A second neat thing – At seventy years old, I decided 260 pounds was killing me, so I lost
a hundred pounds. I’ve gained back a bit but I can tell you now, I’ll never see 260 again.
I have too much to live for.
Third – Twice, my husband’s birthday present to me was as trip to Hawaii. On one trip, we went to Mass in Honolulu on Christmas day and the celebrant asked if
anyone shared a birthday with Baby Jesus. I was the only person in the church who stood and only because my husband pushed me up. It was fun having all those people wishing me a happy birthday.
The second trip to Hawaii was to the big Island. We walk on a volcano on Christmas day.
Maybe not ‘neat’, but we went west and on the trip we stopped overnight at the
Grand Canyon. The next day, we discovered an escaped convict, a suspected murderer
had visited the National Park, and escaped the police by running through the hotel
we were staying in.
Last by not least, we love to travel and I have lived in or visit all but three of our states.
And no, Alaska, or Hawaii are not included. I have yet to see SD, ND or Oregon.
I’ve been to or lived in all the rest.
You’ve got quite a few books to your credit. Tell us about your most recent one.
Battlesong is the story of the youngest brother in Heartsong. In it I have two very independent people who have to learn to live together. In the process they fall in love.
And yes, at first it’s a real ‘battle’.
Here’s the question I love most. What is the embarrassing scene you ever wrote, the one that made you blush and squirm, but that just had to be included.
I think the first love scene I wrote was the only one that made me blush and squirm.
After that first one, I didn’t have a problem.
Of all the stories you wrote, which is your favorite and why?
There are really two favorites. Heartsong. and probably because my husband likes it best. And yes, he does read them all. Also the first book I wrote. In fact, my husband would like for me to rewrite it, but I can’t do it. I loved that story, almost as much as I love Heartsong. Of course, I like all the stories I write. If I didn’t like them I would have written them. I do have one I almost finished and decided I didn’t like, That one is, to this day, still unfinished.
What’s next on the agenda for you?
I have a short novella coming out in February from Champagne Books. And, yes, it’s a valentine story. This one is a historical and involves a misdirected Valentine.
I’m also trying to finish a historical set in England at the time of the London fire. Then there’s Windsong which is the story of the second brother of my heroine from Heartsong. I just can’t let those characters go.
Now for the dream part of the interview. You’re rich and famous. You walk into the most expensive store you know and buy what on a whim?
I’d be in the tech department and buying the newest computer they had. Probably all new furniture for my office as well.
Of all the foods you cook, which is the one that as you’re making it makes you drool and roll your eyes in pleasure?
I love to cook, but I think my baked ham is the one I like the best. I pack it with cloves, brown sugar, pineapple rings, the juice from the pineapple and lots of wine. Of course, while it cooks, I baste it with more wine and I nip at the wine as well. Love that Ham!
I ask everyone this, because I like to know. What turns you on?
A)Husband taking off his shirt
B)Husband doing the housework.
C)Husband taking off with the kids for the day
D) Curling up with a hot book ;P
Even after fifty years of marriage, my husband stills turns me on. Okay, so without his shirt, things have changed a bit, and the kids have all gone, but he helps around the house, and that definitely creates warmth and not a little affection.
And finally, if you had a super fan standing in front of your right now, clutching their e-reader loaded with your book, eyes shining bright, what would you say to them?
Thank you for reading my book and I sure hoped you enjoyed it. Will you let me know? You can e-mail me. Then I would give them a bookmark, or one of my cards with my
e-mail address on it. .
